As soon as late September/October rolls around I know that I can kiss Summer goodbye and start talking with great anticipation about Autumn. It's definitely my favourite season of them all. Everything about it just makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside, I really love it. So while most people are still mourning the loss of the hot sunshine (lol, in what country?), I'm revelling in the fact that we have all of this to look forward to in the coming months:

The perfect balance of weather: when it's a clear sunny day but there's that distinctive chill in the air. That, to me, is something only Autumn can deliver right. I always count those as my best days. I love to go on dog walks even more during these months because the countryside is constantly changing and endlessly beautiful. All those gorgeous reds, oranges, and golds to appreciate; I think it's the time where I'm at my most snap-happy. And then, of course, how could I forget that satisfying crunch from the all fallen leaves? Seriously, give me a leaf pile and I turn into the biggest kid.

I can't wait to start wearing more layers. It's at the point right now where I've just needed a sweatshirt to go out but as it gets chillier you can bet that I'll be the first one to don the fur khaki parka and winter boots. Scarves, bobble knitted hats, cosy mittens, big coats, wellington boots, chunky knits, comfy leggings... The list goes on and on. Safe to say, I much prefer covering up to wearing the bare-minimum to beat the heat in the Summer. Layers all the way!

Duvet days are my usual Sunday thing but there's something about watching other people out in the rain when you're indoors that makes me feel all warm and cosy. Lots of blankets, your favourite mug filled to the brim with hot chocolate and lots of marshmallows, sat all snuggled up by a roaring fire... I live for this stuff! I find that I read a lot more in the Autumn/Winter months too. It's so relaxing just curling up with a good book and listening to the rain gently pattering against the window, ahhhh.

Yes, I say goodbye to the vibrant bright lipsticks I've been rocking all Summer long and a very warm welcome back to the dark side. MAC Diva will definitely be my most-worn shade this season, but I always love a ton of different berry shades too. If anyone has any recommendations as to what they'll be wearing this Autumn then please let me know! I also feel like I can embrace my natural paleness a lot more at this time of the year - ghost faces rejoice!

We tend to make a lot more visits to our favourite farmer's market during the Autumn. Their seasonal fruit and vegetables are so delicious and flavoursome, much better than the packaged bruised crap you get at the supermarkets. Greens, berries, plums, butternut squash, sweet potatoes, leeks, pumpkins... I could go on! And their cheese and butcher counters are always fabulous and great value for money. There's nothing I love more than coming home from work to a slow-cooked beef stew, complete with fluffy dumplings, roasted vegetables, mashed potato and lots of meaty gravy. Ooh, I'm salivating just thinking about it... Runcton, I'm coming for you!
What do you love about Autumn?
