WHITER TEETH WITH COCOWHITE

Most of us want pearly whites. It can be really difficult in our every day lives to maintain that gorgeous white smile. I know for me, my teeth have always naturally been a bit on the yellow side. I mean, they're not awful by any means but I would love for them to be much whiter.

I've been relatively lucky with my teeth throughout my life. I was one of those rare children that LOVED to brush their teeth and I think it was all thanks to that delicious Milk Teeth toothpaste I used until I was (embarrassingly) a preteen. I've never had any real problems, no braces or straightening, a few cavities in the past... And yet, I still hate to smile in photographs. I actually kind of regret not being able to have braces but there is no way I would ever get them now that I'm in my 20s!

Oil-pulling was not something I had really considered doing myself until I did a little bit of research into the benefits of coconut oil. Seriously, this stuff is a wonder product - is there anything coconut oil can't do? Used as a remedy for bad breath in Indian folklore for thousands of years, oil-pulling involves swishing a tablespoon of oil around the mouth for 15-20 minutes. In this time, any bad bacteria in the mouth gets trapped and dissolves in the oil. It has also been proven to reduce gum inflammation and gradually whiten your teeth in a natural way.

You can do this technique with regular unrefined coconut oil which is widely available in supermarkets, health food shops and places like Boots and Superdrug too. It usually comes in solid form so you would need to warm it up slightly in order to scrape out a tablespoon. That's why I really like Cocowhite.
Cocowhite are a UK-based company who specialise in flavoured coconut oil for the sole purpose of oral health. They offer several options for various treatment courses with different flavours of coconut oil, specifically intended for oil-pulling. I chose the 14-day assorted flavours package - which is recommended for your first go - and this included 6 sachets of minty fresh, 4 sachets of light lemon, and 4 sachets of vanilla swirl. Each flavour is actually quite pleasant but my favourite has to be vanilla swirl, which tastes like ice-cream! I've really enjoyed using them, knowing that the exact dosage is ready to go and all I have to do is swish it around my mouth for 15 minutes. I do this before I go to bed as they recommend that you rinse and clean your teeth after every session.

Ready for an ugly teeth shot?

Okay so it's really difficult to take the same photo 14 days apart and the lighting is slightly different but I have to say that I am quite impressed with the results. Even by day 5 I could see a pretty noticeable difference in the both the look and feel of my teeth. I'm an unexpected fan of oil-pulling, and I definitely will be repurchasing these Cocowhite sachets in the future as it has been a good, natural way to improve my oral health and the overall whiteness of my teeth.

  3. Every time I see someone with exceptionally white teeth I stare at them in envy. I have whitening strips but I find them to be such an annoyance to use so they're abandoned in a drawer somewhere. Cocowhite sounds rather intriguing so maybe I'll give it a go!

  6. OH WOW! This looks so cool. I love how you got visible results so soon. I was the opposite of you...wonky teeth, braces, fillings. It wasn't that I didn't look after my teeth but my wonkiness made it more difficult for me to clean them. Definitely going to give Cocowhite a go!

  9. These look great and I've recently heard about oil pulling. I wonder if you can flavour the coconut oil yourself so you can do it yourself and it'll be cheaper!
