Well, well, well... Who would've thought that May would be so busy? As you know, because I dedicated a whole post to it here, I've been a bit absent from the blogging world this month. It's all explained in that post so I won't drone on, but basically I started a full-time job and it's been the hardest I've ever worked. Ever. But that's okay... I need money to be able buy lovely things and visit lovely places, right? Rest assured now that I'm in somewhat of a routine I will be back blogging on the regular. And I'm really grateful for all your supportive comments and tweets. This community is truly wonderful and I'm so glad to consider myself part of it.

We've dedicated a lot of this month to family time. My brother spent a few days at home and we hung out for the bank holiday which was nice. It always seems to be that one of us is always working on the other's day off. I also went for the most delicious lunch at ASK Italian with my Mum a few weeks ago, and I just had to take a photo of the pizza because, I mean, it's p i z z a. They had the coolest wine glasses and water jugs there too - I really wanted to buy a set but resisted.

The weather's been mostly gorgeous, and now that I'm on a 5.30-2.30 shift I'm usually home by 3 and can relax in the garden. Speaking of which, we've decided that we're going to embark on a summer project this year - building a summerhouse! Ahh, I'm so excited! I've already been on Pinterest and a bunch of other websites to get some inspiration. I LOVE this one from Next - isn't it just dreamy? I can already picture the floral bunting, pretty white furniture, magazines and homemade lemonade on a cute little coffee table! We're planning to hook up the electrics from the garage so I can use my Macbook in there too. Blogging in the sunshine, yes! Okay, I'll calm down now... Obviously once it's all done I'll have to show it off, but until then it's a case of levelling out the patio and sticking to websites for inspiration and ideas. It's going to be the best summerhouse ever though!

I love how it's really starting to feel like summer now (she says writing this on a grey, wet Sunday...) I live in a village that's quite the tourist attraction so this half-term has been crazy busy, and every weekend that follows until September will be exactly the same. It's nice to have that change of pace and really puts me to work, but at the same time I really just want to be able to pop to the shops without struggling to find somewhere to park! It's getting to be a bit of a nightmare. I'll be grateful when everyone goes home and I can finally have a week off!

What have you been getting up to this month?

You may have noticed a distinct lack of posts here this month. This post makes it a grand total of one for May so far. I'm sorry about that, but I promise you that I have good reason. I know I don't blog as much as I used to; in fact, I'm well aware of my lazy nature and how I've not been replying to comments or involving myself in the blogging community as much as I used to.

Here's why:

I recently started a new full-time job and, truth be told, I'm absolutely knackered. I'm currently combining my love for baking and making money at the same time, and it's so satisfying to create products and sell them. I mean, people buying food that I've made and stopping by to say how much they've enjoyed it is literally one of life's greatest pleasures. It's also the hardest I've ever worked. Seriously, I ache all over but I'm determined to be a bakery queen! At the moment I'm still working weekends so I can be properly trained up but I'm hoping that once it's all done I'll be working Monday-to-Friday like a normal full-time stooge. Well, I say normal... Waking up every day at 4:30am for a 5:30am shift is not normal, neither is the amount of coffee I've consumed. I have to say though I am getting used to it, slowly but surely, and I don't know why I ever complained about an 8am shift now - so silly! Plus, I'm done and dusted by 2:30pm, which means I get the entire afternoon and evening to myself - pretty lovely now it's coming up to the summertime. This basically means that once I'm used to a routine I can get my blog up and running again - I've got to take advantage of the amazing bright weather, right?

So readers, thank-you for sticking with me regardless. I really hope I can sort out my priorities and get some sort of blogging schedule going once I've sorted my full-time hours out properly. And this is my temporary-unexplained-hiatus somewhat explained. The work/life balance is hard - I don't know how some of you bloggers get everything done and still have time to breathe!
