The Sunday Edit #4

We may be in the middle of August but I am so so SO ready for Autumn, and I think the weather is too! Autumn has to be my absolute favourite time of year. The cold, crisp but sunny days; the leaves changing from green to an array of reds and oranges; the comfy oversized knitwear; the khaki parka and wellington boots combo; the hot chocolate by the open fire; the pumpkin carving; the stodgy dumplings in a homemade beef stew on a chilly evening... Mmm yes, I'm looking forward to it all! And I've spent a lot of my time (and money) planning my Autumn/Winter wardrobe this month - because you can never be too prepared, right? I found some fabulous clothes from Matalan of all places, who have really gone up in my estimations as of late. I also got some gorgeous suede ankle boots from there (link), which I can't wait to pair with my old faithful Joni jeans all throughout the colder months.

I think I enjoy being outside a lot more when it's colder, is that weird? I just love taking my dog for long walks in the countryside, all wrapped up in my staple parka (it has the loveliest softest lining, ahh), tartan scarf and wellington boots. The warm breath clouds in the cold air as you chat to a fellow dog walker about how nice it is to be in the peace and quiet after the Summer rush - peace and quiet... I think I'm getting old!

So all this thinking ahead has got me pondering on what makes me happy. One of my goals over the next few months is to take a lot more photographs. I want to capture more memories for the future, and I think it'll be much easier now I have a pretty new camera to play around with! I'm going to try and lug it around with me a lot more often so I can capture picturesque scenes in HD, rather than just taking a quick snap on my phone for the purpose of Instagram. It may be impractical, carrying around a heavy DSLR camera, but at least I can get a workout in at the same time! Any old excuse, eh?

Do you love Autumn as much as I do? What's your favourite thing about it?

  2. I honestly prefer Autumn and Winter, despite the wind ruining my hair haha! I am just longing for everything Christmassy to come into play, and warm hot drinks inside with my onesie on! I wish I had a dog that I could take out xxx

  4. Maybe not as much as you, but I really like autumn. My favorite thing is when the first snow is falling and you drink hot chocolate, all wrapped up in blankets and watching a movie. LOVE IT!

  6. I've been impressed with Matalan too. I've done an OOTD purely from Matalan! I'm much more of a summer girl, but Autumn is definitely my second favourite season (much less rain than spring!). Xx

  8. I do really like autumn, but I am a summer girl through and through so I feel sad when I can feel the temperatures starting to drop, and the summer nights ending sooner. It will be so lovely to take more memories with a good camera, and the workout it will give you is just an added bonus! Happy photographing!

    1. That's one thing I'm not about in the Autumn - the shorter days and dark evenings! It always makes it more difficult to photograph blog photos! Thanks lovely! Xx

  9. I totally agree with you, the weather is more than ready for Autumn and I've got to admit, I'm quite looking forward to it too. The boots you picked up from Matalan are gorgeous, I'm currently searching for the perfect Autumn pair so I'll be sure to have a browse in store. Jel that you've got a new DSLR camera, I'm just about to buy a new camera but unfortunately my budget won't quite stretch that far! X

    1. Thanks Charlotte, I have yet to wear them out of the house! So so lucky to have a DSLR but I've honestly scrimped and saved for years to get one, and only just paying it off this month so may be out of pocket for a little while. Spending ban here I come! Xx

  10. We're just heading out of winter where I live and getting a few warmer days. I'm happy in a way, but also sad because autumn/winter are my favourite seasons. This post gave me a bit of nostalgia for the seasons I'm leaving behind!
