MAC Cream Colour Base in Pearl

My makeup bag is rather MAC-heavy at the moment. I dread to think how much money I've actually spent over the years! One product which I keep coming back to is MAC's Cream Colour Base. The reason I love this product so much is that it's extremely versatile. It can be used on bare skin, layered over foundation, moisturiser or powder. I mainly use it as a highlighter, primer on the eyelid and, if I'm in a bit of a hurry, as a gorgeous shimmery cream eyeshadow by itself. Depending on the method of application, the product effect ranges from a subtle light veil to a dramatic result, so it's great for going from day to night. I like how it adds a bit of a shimmer to any look - I always have it in my bag so I can perk up my skin whenever I want to.

I chose this time to purchase this product in Pearl which, as you'd expect, is a lovely creamy pearl colour with a very fine micro-shimmer running through it. The texture is great: very soft, lightweight, and blends easily into the skin. You can apply with a brush, sponge, or your fingers. I recommend using your fingers because the cream needs a bit of warming up before application.

Even though this is marketed as a multi-purpose base colour, be aware that some of the shades are not safe for use on the eyes, and some not safe for use on the lips.

The following shades are not for use in the eye area: Bamboo, Cooled Pink, Devilish Orange, Fabulush, Flaming Fuchsia, Flighty, Fuchsia Perfect, Full Fuchsia, Improper Copper, Madly Magenta, Movie Star Red, Orange Alarm, Pink Shock, Plumed Violet, Premeditated, Reel Red, Rich Coral, Rich Spice, Soft Rose, Tickle Me Pink, Vintage Rose, and Virgin Isle.

The following shades are not for use in the lip area: Brown, Dusk, Fawntastic, Greensmoke, Mid-tone Sepia, Pink, Plumed Violet, Slick, Vintage Rose, and White.

While the brighter colours are great for the cheeks, I must say that I prefer to use this product in the more lighter, shimmery colours as they make brilliant highlighters for the tops of the cheeks, on the brow bone, down the nose, and on the cupid's bow - Luna and Pearl are particularly good for this!
